New Jersey’s electric utilities currently have much higher summer peak demand than winter peak demand. In an analysis conducted for the Natural Resources Defense Council, EFG found that the state could fully electrify space heating in over 1 million homes – if efficient heat pumps are used – before winter peak demand would grow to a level comparable to summer peak demand.
