Biography

Liz is a graduate of the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies with a Master of Environmental Management, specializing in environmental policy analysis. She has extensive knowledge of renewable energy, energy economics, and climate change mitigation policies. Her capstone report, Opportunities and Challenges for Investor Owned Utilities in a Changing Climate, prepared for the Natural Resources Defense Council, assessed grid modernization and utility financing in the face of increasing wildfires in California. Her professional experience includes work for National Wildlife Federation and Environmental Advocates of New York, where she organized environmental campaigns, drafted policy recommendations, advocated for environmental legislation through lobbying and public outreach, and conducted research on energy policy and transportation issues. Most recently she held an internship with the US Climate Alliance, where she provided research and recommendations on best practice climate policies to the group of 25 governors who remain committed to the goals of the Paris Agreement.

Selected Projects

    • Natural Resources Defense Council. Conducted research into wildfire mitigation measures used by California utilities, including a review and analysis of utility wildfire mitigation plans. Co-authored a report assessing the costs and benefits of measures including grid hardening and grid management, and reviewed financing options for California utilities. (2020)

     

    • National Wildlife Federation. Conducted research and co-authored a report detailing the threat of oil-by-rail traffic to the Lake Champlain region and recommendations for reducing the risk to wildlife and people from oil-by-rail traffic. (2018)
