Vectren South (Indiana) Proposed Construction of an 850 MW Gas Power Plant Denied

Senior Consultant Dan Mellinger submitted testimony on behalf of the Citizens Action Coalition (CAC) of Indiana. The testimony argued that energy efficiency was improperly considered in the utility’s modeling since the assumed costs were too high and the potential level of savings too low. Other CAC witnesses submitted similar arguments for renewable energy resources. Vectren’s request was denied by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission on the basis that the utility should have considered lower cost and less risky investments including demand side resources such as renewables and energy efficiency.
